The United States consumes 22% of all pesticides used throughout the world. It works out to 6,135 pounds (2,782 kg) per person per year. That’s more than the weight of two full-size cars. Imagine two cars falling out of the sky into your front yard right now. Of course that’s overly-dramatic, but the amount of pesticides being used in your behalf is truly amazing. Quantities like this can certainly change the ecosystems of the earth, and not for the better.
